    Half bug net?

Has anybody tried using a piece of mesh just to cover the top half of their hammock? All I really need is to cover my face, so wouldn't it be more weight effective to have half a net instead of a whole "sock". Any advice is much appreciated!

I ordered the "Hug Half Bug Net" from Arrowhead Equipment for use with my gathered end hammock. Skeptical at first, I must say that I kind of like it. While I haven't had a chance to test it in heavy mosquito conditions, I have slept a couple of nights with it, and felt it had good coverage, was pretty well-made, simple, light and small. Because I use a ridge line, it was a little tricky st first to keep the Velcro gathered end closure from coming apart and slipping, when putting weight in hsmmock.. When you close the Velcro around the hsmmock and ridge line, the ridge line and hammock can open it up when you lay in hammock, unless positioned carefully and tightly. Not a big deal, just a little trial and error. To make it fool-proof, I sewed a toggle at the apex of the Velcro (5 minute project with needle, thread, nylon webbing and left over tent door toggle). Now I just slip toggle into ridge line loop and close Velcro - no opening or slippage, etc. pretty spacious, and loosely drapes just below waist. I really do not think any bugs will get around. I think zi paid $35.

We worked with Dejoha (Derek) to dial in our version of the Hug half bug net. They have been very popular for us

    As an option to consider,
I use the Snugpak Jungle Bag: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaobgwiVjkk
About $45. Also, I wear a ball cap with this to keep bug net off my face.

I used the plans from The Ultimate Hang book. Easy peasy!
If I can make one, so can you.

I was thinking about making one but I may justo order it from AHE! Any idea what the weight is? I didn't see it on the site.

    Edit
