g'day from the great white north

Hi all - new to this form, but look forward to interfacing with the wealth of experience here. I'm an older guy but still active in my major passions - fishing, hiking, canoeing, camping. Have been a lightweight hiker since a "lightweight" tent was 10lbs and the wonder of the day was a Gaz cartridge stove. Times change, gear gets better/lighter but as you age the ground gets harder and colder. I discovered the hammock and got the best nights sleep in the bush I have ever has - I now have hope to continue hiking and camping for years to come.

Hope the hanges here will help me out from time to time with gear advice.

Welcome to HF from Georgia. Lots of great info here on the site and the number of Great White North hangers is growing.
Everyone ought to believe in something....I believe I'll go set up the hammock!

Your post is me.....to a tee.....this past June. Right down to the CampingGaz stove! Sure wish the canisters were still available. (Do ya hear me Coleman!!) I'm down to my last one...a 3/4 full CV470. Welcome......from the "Wilds of western Mass!"

I hear ya Bob. I have quite a collection of antique "lightweight" camp gear stowed away in Rubbermaid boxes - just waiting for a call from the Smithsonian

Looks like I'll be getting a snowshoe trek in this weekend after the blizzard passes - how 'bout you? Get hit with the storm too?

Back at ya from a fellow Ontario hanger. This one from the shores of the St. Lawrence River.
Plenty of info and good folk around here. Glad to hear that the hammock has extended your ability for some woods time.
