I've had my DIY underquilt down to the mid 40's in the past. Last month I got cold at 36 degrees. Feet were cold and everything. Last week I tried again with a second underquilt. I also used a jacket around my foot box and a heated water bottle. The temperature got down to 46 and I sweated like crazy. But last night he got down to a balmy 29 degrees.
Using my DIY gathered end hammock. With a full length climashield 2.5oz attached UQ and a second 3/4 UQ of the same underneath. A Walmart duck down sleeping bag modify into a TQ and a fleece liner. I wrapped my jacket around my foot box and used a heated water bottle behind my legs. I slept totally comfortable and warm all night. Mother nature woke me up to water the trees in the morning.
I even made my morning coffee from the hammock. That's where the oops comes in. After boiling my water, I set my TI pot into my koozie before it cooled and melted the handle to my koozie. Oops!!!
I'll call this a huge learning success.
