DIY UQP Pattern?

I know...a full-length UQP is probably about the simplest possible project someone could do.

But I'm curious if anyone has a thread on making one, or a pattern for one that should work on a HH Explorer Deluxe/Wilderness Logics full-length UQ?

I'd rather learn from someone else's mistakes.

i make mine 50'' x 72'' to allow for covrage past the sides of the uq

Hoping I don't sound like a complete moron (although my wife would note that I simply cannot help myself)...but do you simply make a rectangle that shape with channels all the way around, and shock cord them similarly to how the UQ is done?

exactly how a UQ is done, but a little bigger in all directions

Thanks! Sounds pretty simple, and I think I've got the ripstop nylon at the house already.

Getting ready for a trek in a couple of weeks, and wanted to have a UQP for it...but on a budget!

I make a single layer DWR hammock, the same length (ish) and slightly wider with end channels. I then sew elastic in the middle portion of the sides to tighten the edges, I found shock cord to be heavier, more awkward and just wasnt warranted.
