    Whoopie slings and rain?

    So Im sure this has already been covered somewhere but my search skills seem to be lacking. I've read that with most suspension system that utilize some type of rings or biners, these points act as a drip point for rain that may get on the line that is not covered by the tarp. When using a whoopie sling setup, what is there to keep the rain from running down into my hammock? I realize that there is the toggle, but am just wondering about instances where the toggle may not be covered by the tarp. Thanks

    Yeah, biner, whoopie hook, some absorbant cloth tied to the whoopie sling etc.

    I use a thin strip of Shamwow, just tie it around the whoopie. Make sure it is under your tarp and you are set.

    Hang your pack from its sternum strap from one end of the hammock; your blackbishop bag will take care of things on the other. Sure, you'll have wet pack straps in the morning, but that's gonna happen anyway (either via sweat or rain or both, depending on your gear choices).

    I just tie a couple of slippery half-hitches after the bury, before my hammock. Seems to work out so far and doesn't require any additional hardware.

    I do the same thing and have been in some torrential rains in my hammock and haven't got wet yet....
    When thro' the woods and forest glades I wander
    And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees;
    When I look down from lofty mountain gardeur,
    And hear the brook, and feel the gentle breeze...
