    Superfly advice

Testing out my superfly in a nasty storm. A lot of rain. I'm using a CRL and running it under the tarp. I went out this evening after it had been up for about 5 hours and I noticed my UQ was wet. Had dripping coming from the ridgeline. Not sure if it's the CRL being under the tarp that is letting water run down the line or I need to seal up the seam. Thoughts??

You should not have to seal the ridgeline on a superfly. It is possible that you can get some moisture running down your crl but I wouldn't think it would be enough to get your uq wet. Is it possible that you had blowing rain or splash off of the ground?

What type of line are you using? I've had that happen with lines that are absorbent letting water drip back under the tarp. I changed to a nonabsorbent line and the problem was solved.

The Superfly has a catcut RL I don't think it is recommended to use the CRL under the tarp. But that has nothing to do with water running in. If you move the RL to the outside then no water can get inside from there.

Did you seal the pullout patches? I don't think they come sealed.

O&B, I seamed seeled the pullouts and have not had an issue. I have not been able to test it in a blowing rain situation but everything seems to be ok. Not sure what you have going on. I had a CRL on my WBSF and it just didnt work for me, I did not like the way it worked with the cut of the tarp. I switched to 2 seperate lines and all of my issues were solved, to each his own. Good luck buddy.

I've been wondering about the ridge line, why above the tarp? Seems less load on the rings if the tarp was on the line.

With the cat cut of the tarp, putting the CRL under the tarp won't let the tarp "hang" properly.

The ridgeline should not need sealed. Brandon recommends lines on the ends of the tarp, not a CRL. I know lots of people do it, with success, but I've just taken the designers advice so far.

I have the SF with an over the top ridge line. As outand back ststem Saf is cat cut and should not have a tensioned ridge line under the tarp. Such an arrangement may prevent full tensioning of the ridgeline. Depending on how you have attached the tarp to your under the tarp ridge, it is possible that water is running down the lines from trees to the lowest point on your ridge, then dripping. IF you have attached your under tarp ridge with prussiks, then you might just flip tarp under ridge, pull prussiks tight snd be good to go. If you just strung the ridge line through the ridge tie outs without a knot or water break, you might be getting water running down line and dripping under tarp.
