Nature restores my sanity. Seeking to get out more.
Sun is out and I'm headed out to see exactly what it was. Great info from everyone. I did seal the pull outs and had a drip line for my hammock suspension. Sounds like the CRL, since I didn't have anything stopping drip. I'll post when I have it nailed down. Thanks everyone.
My CRL is over the top of the ridge rather than underneath, I've never had any problems with drips in heavy rain. I think the cat cut on the ridge works better too with it outside.
Where is the sun out in NC? Looks miserable out my window - good testing conditions.
I just came back in and it looks like the drips were only from the center. I'd say you all are spot on and it was the CRL on the inside. I had drip lines only on hammock suspension. I just changed the CRL to the outside and we will see how that works. Thanks again everyone for the help.
I do have another thread about my pole mod which I'm testing concurrently. Check it out if your interested.
Just to confirm: I had the exact same problem with my old Superfly, and it turned out to be the ridgeline running under the tarp. I have since switched to a set of Dutch Gear Stingerz, and would absolutely recommend them. I have never been able to get the proper tension with my continuous ridgeline, which was the reason for me running it under the tarp. With the Stingerz my tarp is taut every time and I have never had another problem with water under my tarp...
Make your life easier and just clip a dutch stingerz on each end and use line.Very easy to adjust and if you need the line for another tarp just unclip the stingerz.
Prussics are harder to work when the weather turns nasty I have found. My SF
gets a little moisture inside when I set up in the rain and then it seems to seal up.I never have had any problems getting anything wet and I have tested it in some howling 30mph blowing rain ,and I have not sealed any seams at all.
