    The Hennessy Experiment: Part Deux.

    Blast from the past.

The old timers here on HF may remember the original Hennessy Experiment thread that was started almost a year and a half ago.

Way back then it seemed like almost everyone who had been hammock camping for any period of time had had some experience with a HH. Almost 80% of the 240 people who responded owned or had owner a HH at some point.

Fast forward to May 2009. A lot has changed since then. There are now many competitors in the hammock camping market as well as an influx of many new people using hammocks instead of traditional camping shelters.

So I'm going to be asking the same question to see how much , if any, has changed since the first post.

Wow, to think I'm an "old timer." Hard to imagine.

Looking back at my post in that thread, I am still using the same system but tweaked with 2Q/ZQ mods. I have also added a KAQ and doubled up my sb in a sandwich over the ocf pad. I have added a couple of REI mesh ditti bags and changed my stakes to MSR Groundhogs.

I have an interest in bridge hammocks but have not acted on the impulse.

    Workin' good so far!

I started with a Hennessy after reading Sgt Rock's site around 6 years ago. Got an explorer ultralight. Had enormous issues keeping it warm. Changed to homemade top entry hammocks and haven't looked back.
I think despite their aggressive patent tactics, Hennessy are probably the only exposure the rest of the world gets to camping hammocks, which in turn leads people to this site and their own experimentation.

A couple of years ago I initially purchased a HH Hyperlite, and used that as my primary hammock for around a year and a half. Along the way I picked up a BMBH when they first came out, and then a WB Blackbird when they came out. I'll have to say that my main hammock now is still the Blackbird. I've also picked up a WB Traveler for a more ultralight setup, and also recently an ENO Doublenest for comfortable hanging on trips with my wife. It never stops! Now working on purchasing another blackbird for my wife to use.

Might be good to include a second question: "Did you vote in the original poll?" just to see if it's still you (us?) oldtimers voting.

    What's the oldtimer cutoff?

I thought about that but I wanted to keep this as close to the original question as possible. Both polls are set to public, meaning that you can click on the number of people who voted for a particular choice, and it will tell you who voted.

I'm considering an old timer, in this situation anyway, as someone who was around when the original thread was first posted.

it may also be interesting to know for how many an HH was the first hammock they used. It was my first, I've now got a blackbird, but I still use the hennessy depending on conditions because I don't have topcovers/underquilts for the bb yet.
