    Clark vs. Claytor

Any new opinions on Clark's vs. Claytor's from people who own both?

I am considering a Clark, but not sure if it will compete with the comfort of my Claytor Exped. Also trying to decide if I will go with the double (Vertex), or the new NX250. I'm not sure I would like the pockets on either of those hammocks with my JRB UQ.

The Clark is 3lbs 10oz, and the Clark Exped is 3.2lbs with the diamond tarp.

There are a lot of pro's and cons for the Vertex vs. the NX.

I'd be interested if anyone has anything new to say about the NX.

I like the features of the Clarks, but never tried one so not sure if they are comfy. However, after reading some posts most people are satisfied with the comfort.

I can't really offer an unbiased comparison because I only own a Clark NA. However, I'm 6' 185lb. and my first night in the NA it dropped to the high 30's low 40's in the morning. I was only in a cheap synthetic walmart bag with a wally world CCF pad and I slept like a rock for about 8hrs till I woke up at about 5am from the cold.

It was my 2nd time hanging the hammock and I was more comfortable and slept more soundly than I normally do in my Posturepedic bed.

The difference between the Claytor Expedition and the Clark NX 250? About $300

If you like your expedition you will like the Clark. The NX is about a foot longer so that will improve the comfort for most. The Clark is the top end this style hammock and IMO better made and more refined than the Claytors. Is it worth the extra money is a decision everyone has to make. I know that when I want to use this style hammock I always grab the Clark over the Claytor.

I'm not sure I would like the pockets on either of those hammocks with my JRB UQ.
The pockets will not hurt the performance of the UQ, you just will not be able to use them for storage.

Yes, I always sleep better in my hammock as well.

I think I might get one to try out this year. I have heard a lot of people mention there is no need for a UQ or pad in these things, but I just cannot believe it unless I try it myself.
