I had 4 pks with me last weekend at the Florida Hang and completely forgot about them. But then I was cozy in the hammock in the low 20s. I've notice in the past that Walmart will normally have them discounted at the end of hunting season.

Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.
I used a pair in my Wilderness Logics Summer Series Underquilt last weekend at the Florida Hang...it kept me pretty warm on the cold 23 degree night. Warm being, my back was cool but not uncomfortable.
I will have a bunch on my first trip.
Try one of these bad boys.
They last up to 24 hours.

I've used them for years.
I brought 2 packs of handwarmers on my recent winter trip, https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ad.php?t=86750
thinking I might use them one way or another. After waking up one morning I decided to put them in my runners so I will have warm shoes to start the cold morning hike. One hour later nothing at all, no warmth! Open the other pack just to see if the first was bad, put them in my pocket and 6 hours later still no warmth! These were brand new, bought a big pack of them on sale, and the expiration date was good.
Did that ever happened to anyone else?
It should be noted that you can extend the life of these by restricting the oxygen they get.
I've used regular 8 hour "hot hands" brand, and had them pump out heat for over 24 hours with nothing more than a ziploc with a pin prick or 2 in it.
The heat created is reduced, but I tend to use this method in camera bags, or around batteries. Or put 1 or 2 in ziplocks in my hydration pouch to prevent the bladder from freezing. Anywhere where I need a boost to temps in an enclosed area.
I have been using the Hot Hands Toe warmers all hunting season,,and the hand warmers too..you can buy them at Walley world for 6 bucks a big bunch. I haven't had any problems with the toe warmers not lasting all day and even when my feet get sweaty finally,,they still work for me even damp. I get up to 8 hrs of usage out of most of them all the time. I would think they would work great in the hammock as long as you don't put them directly against your skin.
Thanks, Shane.
I really needed an excuse to buy one more piece of gear. I got my Zippo hand warmer in the mail today. I am testing it now. I could not put much fluid in it on the first fill, so will be interested in performance the next time. It is warm but not hot now. I just got one "six hour" fill into it, and lit it.
It is slightly warm to the touch. I will post again after it runs out and I can fill it properly.
P.S. I just refilled it and got it lit. It's nice and warm. I can't wait to try it inside a down cocoon.
