wow. thanks for all the input. i think i will go with the adjustable ridge line for now
FWIW - 83% is for the distance between the anchor points of the SRL. If you have an open hammock you can use a Dutch biner to open the line when lounging. (If you have a sewn in bug net removing it can cause ripping.)
I you add one put some tape or thread or magic marker near the adjustment so you can see how much you change things if you start playing with the length.

I just completed a hammock for a friend this morning and I got to thinking about adding a ridge line to my next one... which I will begin tomorrow. So far, I haven't seen any real cons to having a RL.... but many benefits.
I do believe this is exactly how Ben Franklin would make his decisions.
