For those of you with double layer hammocks, if you use a partially inflated Neoair Xlite large (25" wide) between the layers, is it wide enough to cover your shoulders?

Haven't been on a pad in a while, but my 25" wide pad at an angle with my body, worked. I'm pretty broad shouldered, 46L coat size. Not a lot of wiggle room. I kind of sleep in between on my back and on my side.
My DL had holes at my feet and shoulders, so I could get the pad at a pretty good angle before getting in.
As a matter of fact, usually the foot corner of the pad stuck out of the layers ie. visible and sticking out of the hammock, not in between the layers.

If you are the type that lays on your back and you don't move when you sleep, this may work well for you. I am a tosser and turner in the hammock, so a pad is a PITA for me. Now a bridge hammock is a different story. I loved a partially inflated pad in the DL bridge hammock.

Thanks for the replies. I'm looking to replace my HH bottom entry. I have used a pad inside the HH and don't want to go back to that, so its either go with a single layer and UQ or double layer and pad.
Most pads just miss covering the shoulders. You could get an ENO-HotSpot http://www.rei.com/product/830279/en...%7Cbing%7Cmain
or just stuff some extra clothing under your shoulders. Or add a short pad sideways.
Carry forth.

I have a wbbb 1.7 double layer. I tried a pro lite thermarest this summer just to try it. Like someone above said it works but not a lot of room to move around. I flop around when I sleep and I couldn't stay on it but if you sleep like a rock it should work. I was able to stay on one of the foam pads a lot better, the foam seems to be a little more sticky and stays put better. YMMV
