What a great time. I had such a good time at the FH3 last year that I started planning then on coming back this year. I have learned to speak hammock and not only that but made my own hammock. Thanks to everyone for coming by to have a look at my hammock and for all the compliments.

The folks who come to these hangs are just super special and it is such a family feel. I love it and love the fellowship. It was so sweet to be part of the vows renewal. Old 4hats and I have been married a long time but it always is good to look at each other as if for the first time.

Thanks to all who worked so hard to make everything go so smooth and for the good food.
I am a convert, I may not sleep in my hammock every night but you will find me at more hangs.

Looking forward to seeing old friends and to making new ones.

I have to say your hammock is the prettiest blackbird clone I have ever seen. The embroidered trail name really makes it stand out. I hope someone took a picture of it and posts it.

    Alright folks,

I just made two donations totaling 250.00 to the Florida Trail Association and to the Friends of Florida State Parks on behalf of Florida Hammock Hangers (and their visiting friends from out of state). It is my continued hope that these actions will increase awareness about hammock camping in Florida State Parks and support the trail system that allows so many to enjoy the natural beauty of Florida.

Now for the biggest reason that the amount was less that last year. I booked a different site for next years hang. While Buck Lake is beautiful, my fear is that one day a park ranger will show up and tell us that half our group has to leave because we are more than double the limit of the campground. I'm not willing to risk that.

By some miracle, I was able to book for next year Doe Lake. Facility wise it's an upgrade, as it has flushing toilets and hot showers. The complex is 60 acres and has a 40 acre lake for kayaking and canoeing. Those wanting to take in a hike on the Florida trail can carpool to a nearby trailhead and do just that.

So I guess I can let you all know what the dates are for FHV now. Thursday, January 15 (3:00 p.m.) until Tuesday, January 20 (12:00 p.m.). I am sure it will be a great time with great friends.

Doe Lake! You are INCREDIBLE, Gumbo!!!!!!!!!!!
I just called my wife & told her that we are staying for the whole affair! Lack of a hot shower has always been her hangup, but was overcome last year by the profusion of Dutch ovens.

    I've marked my calender!!!

The donations are a great way to continue to show how the hangers feel about the parks and all they have to offer. (Cleaning up the grounds is a way to show respect for nature.)

Don't worry, even with the kitchen area, I still plan to make some DO goodness to share! Supposedly they have a huge grill and I'm already looking into maybe a pig roast on Friday evening, followed by the Shrimp and Gumbo Feast on Saturday (providing Richtorfla is game for that).

I'm glad Ada will be coming next year. I missed seeing her this year!

However enough about that, it's a year away. Someone post MOAR pics!
