    Review: Super Fly Mod

Its not often I get a chance to be in on a "secret" but this time I was glad to be in on it.

Some folks got to see the Mod that Brandon made for me on my Super Fly at the Speer's Hot Springs hang in April.

    The Mod is Detachable Doors!

Now I can use it as a Summer and winter tarp
That saves me a good bit of $ change $ !
    2 for 1

The doors are attached to the main Tarp with 5 buttons / snaps, like the ones on a western shirt.

    4 black and one white.
The white is located at the Bottem so you can locate it and attach them right side up.

The first question I had was will it hold up in the wind?
Will the doors unsnap and blow off into the night in gale force winds letting in the tempest I'd planed to hide from.

    I highly doubt it.

At the Hot Springs hang was the first time Id had it up, but I have slept under it every week end from then.
    Storms, wind, and good weather.
The only time they came undone is when I wanted them to and when I stumbled into it while setting it up.

And as you have come to expect from the WB camp,
    excellent craftsmanship

I Hope this will be a Permanent choice for the Super Fly.

I know I sound like a WB praise reporter but to be honest The Snug Fit, Super Fly and My BB are Well worth the Money I spent on them.
(research on the replacement of my sleeping bag for a Quilt is looking like a JRB)

I asked questions here and found what I needed Here with your help and reports like this.

    Thank you all
    and thank you Brandon

At the rate Brandon keeps changing up the gear, any secret handshake would be changed too often for anybody to remember.
I really like the new SuperFly concept and I can already hear the noise made by my money leaving my wallet.
    Trust nobody!

Very nice. I made something similar to that as a ground tarp a few years ago using Velcro. It will be interesting to see how the snaps hold up. Great job...

I also have a superfly with the snap off doors and I can attest that the snaps are pretty tough to get undone. I have only spent two nights under the tarp but one of them was on top of a ridge(on purpose) to see how it did in the wind. I'm sure that at some point there is a wind speed that would make them come undone... but my opinion is that if the wind is blowing that hard you got a lot of bigger issues, like the fact that there is a tornado outside your tarp

I've been wondering why some one had not done a version of this- but wonder no more! This is very interesting. I guess you could carry just one set of doors for the windward side.
