    Hello folks

I'm Dave and brand new to the hammock obsession. I have been reading a lot about them on here and wow what a great group you have here. Very knowledgeable and talented.

So I've decided that I would like to do more hiking. Up till now its been limited to day hikes and I want to take it up a notch. So I have started getting the gear I need for multi-day trips. I would also like to make some of my own gear. I was going to make my hammock so I bought 4 yards of rip-stop at Joann's fabrics and headed to Quest outdoor store to buy some material for suspension when I came across the Grand Trunk Skeeter Beeter Pro for $80 and it was just what I wanted to make. So I bought the hammock and since then bought whoopies and a SRL for it from Arrow head equipment to upgrade the factory suspension.

Well now what to do with the 4 yards of rip-stop? Snakeskins, top quilt, under quilt, stuff sacks, make the SBP a double layer? Which one should I do?

    Thanks
    Dave

welcome from Indiana! I don't know, haven't done much DIY, but I do hear stuff sacks are a great place to start. How about a kite?

Welcome and congrats on getting started.

    Start simple.
Stuff sacks are a great place to bgin.
    So is an UnderQuilt Protector.

Snakeskins are great for a tarp, frequently folks make them out of mesh.
