    webbing question

Ok, I am thinking of removing my ropes from my TX250. I'm not worried about weight so I was going to replace them with webbing and carabiners. I have a set of Atlas straps that are 9 foot long. My question is, how long do I need to make the straps from the channel in the hammock to the loops for the carabiners to attach to the Atlas straps? I don't have a problem finding trees 13-17 foot apart.

I would not remove the ropes. Shorten them up and tie them to the carabiner with a clove hitch, bowline, or figure 8 on a bight. Do it close to the hammock body and the biners will serve as drip riings. Leave some hanging tail for the same reason. If you need more than 9 ft for your straps add a simple strap with sewn loops you can interlock.
    YMMV

I swapped my Clark stock suspension out first with whoopie slings and am now currently using a cinch buckle strap suspension with 15' straps, probably longer than needed but I find it to be the best balance between ease of use and weight.

    Works for me!
