    Turtledog stand total length

Hi everyone, i posted this in a really long thread about the stand but got no response. anyway, i'm hoping to get my first hammock in the next few weeks and plan to use it indoors instead of a bed. my bedroom isn't huge so i was wondering how long the entire set up is end to end for you guys? i'm planning to use a 10' ridgepole if everything works out since that should be plenty long enough for me. i just don't know how much farther out the tripods go or how far apart the legs are usually. any info would be really helpful!

I found with my stands at 10 ft you don't get the hang angle of 30 degrees unless you really choke up the suspension. I changed my ridge pole to 13 ft. Even when I put eye bolts in the walls to hang my sons hammock in his room. I made sure I had 12 + feet. These are thing I found in my personal set up. Then again you can so setup so many ways.

Just measured mine at 13'7" with the legs spaced at about 40" between legs which I got by following Happy Fun Guys directions on cutting and building.

do you find that your 10' ridgepole is enough? from what i've read, some people find it is too short while others manage just fine. it seems that it mostly comes down to trial and error, but my concern is fitting it into my room without taking up the whole place! i'll measure it this weekend when i have time and see what would be the longest ridgepole i can fit.

Figure on 3.5'-4' longer than your ridgepole for the overall length.

No problem with the 10' ridgepole. HH Explorer Deluxe with the rope swapped out for chainlinks. About 8" end of hammock to end of Ridgepole on both ends. I have about a 25 degree hang angle. Hanging from very end of Pole. Very slight calf ridge that I don't really notice with a good diagonal lay.

I've not measured but I would think that 3.5 - 4 feet more than your ridge pole sounds about right. My ridge pole is 11 feet and I think that I would like to extend it out a little, not so much for the hammock but for when I use it outside with a tarp.
