    Me Introducing Myself

    Hello Hammock Forums,
I stumbled into this forum because I recently got interested again in backpacking, but wanted to go lightweight, with comfort, and low cost. DIY fit the low cost part and when I saw some plans for some hammocks I realized that they were a simple build, as I had the sewing skills and the equipment.

At this point I have made my custom extra-wide gathered end hammock already. Next step is probably the tarp, and then the underquilt and bug-net.

Any tips on DIY plans etc. are greatly appreciated.

This is one guy looking forward to not sleeping on the ground anymore. Seems like after 40 my body really started rebelling against things like sleeping on rocks and roots!

I started out in a similar way, new to camping and putting together my gear from scratch on the cheap. A diy insultex underquilt is a cheap easy way to get your bottom insulation covered, but if you're ready, the DIY stickies have plans for down underquilts and top quilts.
