storing TQs/UQs and all manners of downy goodness.

So the wife and I are moving from Colorado to Florida (not my idea...Uncle Sam is making me). She picked up a bunch of moving supplies at Target. One of the best scores she made was Ziploc Flexible Totes (XXL) storage bags. I immediately stole 2 of them (pissed off the wife something fierce) for my down quilts. These things are perfect!

Here you can see the perfect handles and zippered edge with the mesh breathable section to keep fresh air in the down.

I got three quilts (20° JRB Grelock UQ, 40° JRB Sierra Top Quilt, and 32° Ozark Trail sleeping bag) in one bag with minimal to zero compression. The pic is a little blurry, but beside the ziploc tote is a standard JRB Quilt bag for comparison.

Here's a link to them on Amazon.

Looks like an excellent solution; as retired Air Force, I made more than a few of those forced moves! Never had quilts but if I did, I think I would have tried to carry them in my my car. I had too many interesting events with my shipped goods to ever trust my best stuff. I always carried my important stuff with me, even if I had to rent a mini-Uhaul.
Good luck on your move! Colorado to Florida reminds me of the time I went from Guam to Norther Maine!!

Welcome to sunny Florida, and thanks for the idea! Been toying with sewing up a quilt storage bag for my new down underquilt (previously, it was poncho liners; there ain't much you can do to those to hurt 'em), but this looks like an easier way.

    Thanks!

Noooo, we'll miss you! When do you leave? Will you eventually come back? I hear the mountains of Colorado are always calling.

Oh and, uh, good idea too! ;p

I'm leaving Thursday. I will eventually come back, but it might take me 15 years...

I'm going to miss this place big time.
