    Question Whoopie Sling gone wild

Guys I'm not sure what happened i got a brand new set of slings and did one hang. When i went to hang my hammock on the second trip and noticed that the plastic Bead on the head end whoopie was gone. For the life of me i can't figure out how it could have popped off or cracked and broken off.

Just visualize a sling without the bead thats what I have. Looks like i may have to order a replacement.

No need to replace it. You can just open up the braided fibers and tie in another piece of rope into it or splice in a short piece of rope. There are some threads that show how people have dealt with that.

i don't use beads on my whoopies, I just don't pull or hold it by the tail. Never had a problem. If it worries you, tighten a ziptie around the whoopie or just tie a knot out of cord. Really just about anything will work.

I've broken a bead off a whoopee sling I made before. I think it just ended up between the whoopee and the knot/toggle that I was hooking it to, and my body weight crushed it.

But like others have said, no need to replace it - just don't pull the loop through.

Then again, if you were just using this as an excuse to buy more stuff, then by all means, don't let us stop you.

I have whoopies on the hammock in my backyard shed/cabin. One night the plastic bead got stuck between the metal eye hook on the wall and the whoopie sling. When I sat down in the hammock the plastic bead shattered with a loud POP and you could hear all the pieces ricochet off the walls.

You'd be surpised how loud they are when they break. The funny part is I did the same thing to the bead on the other end the next day.

    Whoopie Sling gone wild

This is another reason why I've order a Dutch special!!! Titanium hook alread in the eye. Try poping one of those. That and I can change to most diffrent suspension as often as I want. Versitility!!! Now I just need to wait for my package to arive. The suspence is killing me!!!

Jstevens, if they are our whoopie slings, please send me an email at [email protected] and I will send you a replacement sling.

    Thanks, Stu

    Simple solution?

If the bead breaks off one could take an appropriately short length of paracord that has the inner strands removed and wrap it around the amsteel. While pinching the paracord around the amsteel so that the ends are laying on each other, carefully melt both ends and use pliers to seal the paracord ends together. It is light weight and will not break.
