Hi BillyBob. You're right, it's not a lot of acclimation time. But we generally manage OK, although I like to carry a few Advil along in case I get a headache the first night. Elevation sickness is certainly nothing to mess with and we keep an eye on each other.

The views from up there are spectacular. From the top of Humphreys Peak on a clear day you can see all the way to the N. Rim of the Grand Canyon on the NW. side, as well as all the way to the White Mtns near the New Mexico border on the SE side. I'll throw up a few pictures from the trip when we get back. Y'all have a great weekend!

But if y'all can handle it, then good on 'ya! Either way, I'm envious of those Aspens and Douglas Firs and Spruces you will be camping in, high above the rest of the world!

That is a nice hike. Enjoy.

I will be slathered in Deet, trying to not get eaten by Adirondack black flies while hiking the CL-50 http://www.cranberrylake50.org/

If you can work in a day or 2 at 5000-6000 before you go above 10K, that would be wise. Is there time for at least some acclimatisation? Or does Cannibal, already living above 5000, want to get you to 14000 ASAP just for chuckles?

I think he wants to slow me down a little. I do like to walk a little fast.

Yep Laurel Fork Creek. You never know how it will be. Just now saw the forecast for the weekend...60% chance of thunderstorms

This afternoon no rain was forecasted

I leave tomorrow for 9 days - 37 miles of class V packrafting.
Followed by 35 miles of rugged and extremely remote trail-less
bushwack hiking, followed by hopefully a final 2 days of Class V rafting.

    Farewell hammock peeps.

Lots of great places to hang along that trail and even a few spots for the tent You are right about a lot of creek crossings. Hope the thunderstorms holf off for you and have a safe hike.
