Looking for info on Cuben tarps. Does anyone have experience with both these tarps? Zpacks or HG. I am looking at the standard tarps with doors 11” ridge line. Is one better that the other or is it just a preference of supplier? Thanks

I have both. There's a small difference in weight between the two with HG being the lighter one. I'm guessing there's a slight difference in size that accounts for the weight difference. Never bothered to check though. Also HG uses d-rings on the tie outs and Zpacks uses grosgrain or webbing loops for the tie outs. Zpacks also has a loop on the RL that I guess is meant for running a CRL through. Or if you flip the tarp inside out you could use it to hang something from.

Ive have owned both a z pack and HG Cuban fiber tarp with doors. Both are excellent tarps but in the end I sold the z packs and kept the HG. The two main reasons I did this was one because z packs was a sewn RL and I liked the bonded RL better on the HG and secondly because the z packs tarp did not have cat cuts and flopped around me too much. I own three HG tarps and love them all.

z packs was a sewn RL
Do you thing the sewn RL would be weaker and leak?

Just noticed HG is also a bit cheaper.

I don't think Zpacks sews the RL anymore, don't quote me on that though. I forgot about it not being cat cut. If I had to choose between them I'd go with HG before Zpacks simply because I like the d-rings over the loops (although I guess I could put some split rings on them.) and I'm a gram weenie and would go for the lighter one.

OK so HG is cheaper and lighter. I thing that helps. Thanks

I'm looking at the Hammock Gear Standard with doors, also because I can get it in camo too!
