    Belize in June-Cheap Travel Hammock

I am leaving for vacation in Belize on June 8th to June 21.
I don't want to take my Clark Jungle Hammock on this trip because I have been hearing some bad stuff on people losing their hammocks.
Any suggestions for a cheap but good travel hammock that will pack down well?
And one that won't make me cry if I find it missing?
Hmmmm..bugs can be a problem. Not so much in the cays, but I plan to take the river up into the jungle (oriente) and will probably need to add some netting.
Thinking also about FishinFinn's ideas about setting up the hammock in el cheapo hotel rooms down there.

    Thanks for any suggestions,

You may place a WTB for an ENO or similar style HAAB hammock. You should be able to get one of those fairly cheap.

How much are you wanting to spend?

Given that you want a relatively cheap hammock - How about a Skeeter Beeter? That would give you the option of having an attached bugnet, if needed.

Cheap with netting: Byer Moskito Traveller. I wouldn't be devastated to lose it. I wouldn't be happy, but I'd get over it pretty quick.

I second AngrySparrow's suggestion of the Skeeter Beeter. I'm new to hanging and got one on Amazon for $42.04 plus free super saver shipping (if you can wait a week). For that price, I was leery of the quality before I ordered, but I've been pleasantly surprised. I have made my own "tree hugger" suspension system, using tie down straps from Wally World and descending rings and cord from REI.

I'll probably "drink the Blackbird Kool-Aid" eventually, but for now the Skeeter Beeter fills the bill!

Just make your own. $5 worth of ripstop nylon at Wal-Mart, some bug netting and a tarp.

As easy as it is to take down and pack a hammock, if you are just using it in hotel rooms, leave the tarp back in the US and take your hammock down every morning and bring it with you like you would any valuable.

If it takes you 2 minutes to take it down and it weighs a pound or 2 in your day pack isn't it worth it?

That and as suggested above, a skeeter beater is only $50 and a Byer Moskito Traveler is only $40 at REI. I haven't used either one of them and both look like they require a separate tarp over them.
