I stopped using them as soon as I could. Plus my basement is so dusty I'd end up with black lung disease if I hung down there for any length of time.
Pretty much what I was worried about.

Ill have to check if their bolted down.

Perhaps Ill jut use the beams to be safe anyway.

if lolly columns are installed properly, welded and lagged at top and buried in concrete on bottom, then you are fine. if they are the light duty screw kind i wouldn't hang from.

This is what they are.....I can remember not buried at all....unsure about welding or bolted....didn't realize they would be considered light duty.

We are closing in a few weeks and moving in... so maybe Ill take a picture and post it .

    This didn't really happen.

    But I have your attention

I'm thinking about doing this but am unsure if it would be a bad idea or not.

    Any Tips?

Mine are concreted into the slab with a square bracket nailed to the beam - I've hung on them for ages and they haven't so much as shifted. There would have to be a LOT of bent metal and obvious signs of failure before they gave way.

I'd use the I-beam. Proper hardware will set you back about $20
Fastenal and other electric and plumbing supply houses carry the hardware to make this easy and adjustable without drilling holes in the beam.
