    WTB: Hammock

Hello I'm after a hammock for a trip to the tropics.

I'm looking for either a Hennessy Hammock Ultralite or Explorer A-Sym (+Snake Skins) or a Jungle Hammock

    And a big tarp.

thanks, please email me, not PM

I suggest checking e-bay and e-mailing Hennessy and ask them if they have a demo list.

Try searching whiteblaze.net too. Someone might have listed one that hasn't sold yet.
Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?

the tropics is almost always hot, humid, and infested with bugs all year round .I would suggest buying or making a hammock with removable bugnet and bigger headspspace. the bugnet should have larger holes to let the air circulate. If you go for layered hammock be careful of sweaty backside. A bugnet that enclose the hammnock is nice like hammock engineer's hammock bivy. It will protect you from bugs all around and allows good circulation. Also invest on a large tarp to keep you dry from tropical storm or downpour. Im talking from experience b/c I live in the tropics.

Yeah, tom claytor's jungle hammock is fine. Also buy a tarp like Neo's. A 9x9 or 10X10. The problem with hennesy is that you cant remove the bugnet when the weather s stuffy and hot. It also feels claustrophobic as my experience with my HH clone suggest. A Speer or any kind of hammock with removable bugnet would be fine.

i noticed the two "neo tarps" that were in use last weekend at hot springs seemed to have real sag issues.
    far more than the silnylon.
I too will something make and joy in it's making

I think it's more issues with the way the tarp is pitched in a diamond shape. You basically only have only 2 points pulling tension on the tarp toward the ground, whereas a tarp like a MacCat(MC) has four points pulling tension on the tarp body. I have also noticed that the cat cuts on the neo tarp look very shallow to me as compared to a MC.

The neo tarp does have several tie outs and were probably put there to address sag issues. The fabric is heavier than silnylon so ,yes, that could also be a factor also.

I agree on the shape. I've seen other square/diamond tarps with a lot of sag, as well as the 9x9 Neo tarp I've got. I can only imagine that the 12x12 would be even worse.
