    Snugpak ProForce Military Jungle Hammock

Anyone know or have experience with the military hammock with the netting? Below is a link on ebay. I mean for $50 ya can't beat it. I'm looking to purchase in the next couple days.

It's something I will use for a week at Boy Scout Summer Camp and hopefully a few weekends or weekday camping trips.

I'm open to any and all comments. Ya won't hurt my feelings.

Are they using 550 paracord as part of the suspension?

Skeeters will be eating your butt through the hammock bottom. Make sure you bring a CCF pad. Other than that, great deal on what looks to be a solid hammock!

not bad to throw in the car for a break along the highway. Just remember to get a tarp for scout camp as it seems that it rains every time i go for a week.

A tarp is for sure on the list.

Why will the skitters eat thru the bottom? It's regular rip stop nylon material.

Looks to me as you will need a set of tree straps. It looks like paracord going around the tree.

Honest opinion. I wouldn't buy it. It looks real short and unless you yourself are under 5'8", you might not be that comfortable. I tried to lay in my wife's Hennessy Expedition and I was quite uncomfortable and I am 6'1". Just my opinion on it. I could be totally wrong on this and it end up being very comfy for you.

Well ... this thread saves me posting about the Snugpak hammock ... I will just put my thoughts in here:

I bought a tropical hammock second hand (as new) and was surprised to see that Snugpak use 550 cord (proudly I might add) as the suspension:

My hammock didn't have the suspension lines but the 550 cord is used as the gathered end ... all my other hammocks have been replaced with 5mm climbing cord and even that isn't perfect! I wont be leaving the paracord on this one:

The hammock itself seems pretty robust but no more or less than any of the other 'cheap' nylon ones I have. I haven't tested it yet though ... Im still in love with my 3m DIY effort

I appreciate all the input. I'm 6' & 190lbs. Guess I need to keep shopping around. Any suggestions for around $80? I know it won't get me much but looking for a hammock & insect netting. Suspension would be good but that's simple to ad. I know I'll have to ad a tarp for protection as well.
