    XLC...too much netting?

I'm trying to decide between the Blackbird and Blackbird XLC for my first hammock. I kind of like the idea of being able to put a solid color cover on top, but I'm wondering about the large amount of mesh with the screen top.

I'd particularly love to hear from people who have had both the standard and XLC versions, does anyone feel like the XLC has too much mesh? Either causing too much airflow, not enough privacy, or simply aesthetically? I'd guess in a hot climate the extra mesh would be awesome, but for my purposes, I don't camp in super hot or humid places, so the extra mesh of the XLC largely comes down to aesthetics. The problem is I've never seen one in person, looking out from the inside. So I'm just curious if anyone actually prefers the lesser mesh of the standard.

I've had both hammocks. The extra mesh is great. Possibly a little more air flow but I felt too closed in with the standard WBBB. The Xlc is so much more comfortable so I can't imagine the mesh being enough of a factor in making the choice.

I'm 6'1" and the xlc is dramatically more comfortable. I don't see the extra mesh as anything but a plus. If you are terribly worried about privacy any hammock is not the thing to do.

I have the WBBB XLC and got the extra top cover. It can provide added privacy and in colder climates provides added warmth and seams to reduce wind in the hammock.

I got the WB xlc and love it but do get the solid top even if you do not plan on winter camping. I have been in the summer with the HH Explorer Deluxe and could feel the sweat run down my chest. Soooo you can always add the solid top if needed.

I love the view you get with the XLC and like the better venting as I am a hot sleeper. Get the solid top they are great for colder weather.
When I was a kid the only time we were in the house was to eat and sleep.

I can't compare to the regular BB but my XLC was just delivered here about 5 hours ago and I was able to get a hour in before the sun went down. Awesome! So glad I bought the XLC! So glad I bought the top cover!!! The Yeti is awesome to!
I don't see how the mesh can be anything but positive. The thing is very comfortable, I can't say enough good.

I have both and prefer the XLC. The mesh on the XLC allows for better viewing.
The XLC has a bigger sweet spot in my opinion.
The tarp (for the most part) will determine privacy. When my daughter goes with me, she uses my Superfly.

Thanks for the great feedback. I'm getting a strong vibe that XLC owners really like their hammocks.

I've been on the fence between the models, but I'm leaning more towards the XLC.
