    multi-purpose quilt

It's still raining, so I knocked up a quilt to try out some ideas I had.

Its main purpose was a quilt that me and the misses can use together at home, car camping etc

Its rectangular quilt 2m x1.2m with 10cm 8cm baffles in the centre with larger baffles on the edges to simulate draft collars.

I also tweaked the suspension/ footbox using grosgrain. The pictures didn't come out well indoors but if anyone wants, I can take a picture tomorrow

fabric is pertex with the same fabric making the baffles.

The down is really awful as it was salvaged from a £2 duvet. I will probably replace at a later date.

    total cost £5 ($8)

The fabric was very static(y) and has made the black look dirty from he down sticking to it.

so this can double as an underquilt? or is the multi-purpose aspect in reference to it being used for one or two people in car-camping or hammock-camping situations?

(by the way.. looks nice, even though it has some down sprinkles on the outside)

It can also be hung as an under-quilt, although its nearly as long as my hammock!

I think you did very well. I like it a lot. will be good to see what kind of temps you can get down to with this.

You keep teasing me with these 'cheap' accomplishments ... maybe your photo' skills are awesome but everything you've made looks the business to me! I love the fact it can be used for top quilt or underquilt - it is a great idea.

I am looking forward to getting a sewing machine again (and the space to use it) ... stupidly I gave away a lovely little Singer although it was a hand operated machine ... but it will take some time to master straight lines let alone 3D objects.

    Thanks for sharing

Cheers guys. I'm very pleased with the shell, especially the extra large baffles on the edges.

FGreen; I'm not sure how low with the amount of feathers in it but if filled with decent down I would think fairly comfy below freezing

Onfire; I'm getting there with my sewing. I've tried to hand cranked but i'm far too lazy for that, the four hours this took is plenty! The one I'm using was only £20 and is fantastic, kept me out of the pub !
