    Warbonnet tie-out question

I have a Blackbird on order and want to be prepared to use it as soon as it arrives. If I am correct, only one stake per side is required for staking out the hammock to each side and both tie-out lines on each side go to the one stake. So I would use 2 stakes for 4 tie-out lines total.

What length of tie-out line do the fine experts here at HF use with their Blackbirds?

Oh, and one other question, does Brandon ship his Blackbird hammocks with tie-out line attached?

Yes you are correct in your assumptions. It only requires two stakes unless you want to put a tarp over it. The tie out lines that come with it are plenty long enough.

Brandon puts elastic tie-outs on there, which in my opinion are better than twine/cord.

Excellent! Thanks for the quick replies.

I have my tarp all set and can't wait to spend my first night in the Blackbird (it will be about 3 more weeks).

You will be able to use two of the stakes that you use for your OES tarp for the BB tie outs. So you are good to go.

Use a OES MC Deluxe tarp. Should work on most other tarps. Two of the stakes used on the tarp double up for the BB tie outs. The shock cord tie line Brandon provides allows length adjustment. Solid line may end up yanking your stake out of the ground. A light spare length of accessory line can be used to extend the tie out line to your tarp stake or whatever you have tied down your tarp to. No need to carry another set of stakes.

Good idea, using the same stakes as the tarp. I got a MacCat Ultra, so with 3 stakes to each side, I should be able to find a convenient stake for the hammock tie-outs!

Indeed. Either the center or corner stakes will work fine.

MSR groundhog stakes are an excellent choice. Cannibal put me on to them, they are great. Also the generic version of them from going gear who is also a member here.

If Brandon hasn't made your hammock yet, beg him to add a netting tieout, probably on the black reinforcement part between the footbox and the storage shelf. I don't know if he would do it, but it would be the perfect place for one. It would pretty much hold the netting out of the way, and still let you use the shelf.

I would second the MSR Groundhogs, you can just put the loop on the end of the side tie outs over the Groundhog and it will hold, if you angle the groundhog outward.

I also had a little trouble getting my cordlocks to hold the shockcord the way I had adjusted it. I had to tie the shockcord after the cordlock to get it to hold in place. After using it a few times, it seems like the shockcord broke in, because it holds in place perfectly now without having to tie it off.
