Anyone with a WBBB XLC multicam 1.9/1.1 double layer?

Was just wondering how you like it or if you went with the single layer. I seem to be leaning towards a nice sleeping mat over a underquilt right now, but I am not sure. What I am sure of is I LOVE multi cam.

Slept in mine for the first time last night. Double layer. Blissful down to 33 with my 20 degree HG Incubator UQ. Some would say Multicam and DL is a weight penalty...one I gladly accept!
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the strength to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

I had a 1.9/1.1 XLC for a little while.. ended up getting rid of it, the overcover made it to enclosed for my liking, I prefer a sock when I need to use a hammock in bitter cold.

That being said, I love double layer hammocks.. the added insurance of being able to stuff something in between the layers if you need more insulation is worth the minor weight penalty.

I got a SL multicam XLC for my son to use his last year or so in Scouts, but I bet I'll use it more in the long run than him. He was use to a SL with his old Hennesey Scout hammock so that's what he wanted in his upgrade. I have a 20 deg yeti for it now, but plan on a multicam incubator down the road. I set it up today and laid in it awhile. It was my first time in a Blackbird. I have to say it was super comfy. I'm taking both the RR and the XLC to the Yates hang and will sleep in one Friday night and the other Saturday night.

Aim for the moon, if you miss, at least you will still be among the stars.

Are pads really that difficult to manipulate in a single layer hammock?

I primitive camped in my WBBB XLC multicam 1.9/1.1 DL last weekend, used a large self inflating pad because I am still deciding on a UQ. It worked out great. Temp only got down to about 25*F, I was plenty warm, especially from below. My trip report is mostly about hammock and superfly tarp, very wordy. here is link, public on FB (Ken Liedtke): https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...1&l=f02c52dce0

I prefer kayak camping over canoe, so packability is critical, therefore I will definitely get an UQ eventually, also they do not need as much adjustment every time you get back in, or so I have been told.

or on sky drive, fewer comments, blah blah, probably a good thing.:

Hope this helps, I am impressed by Warbonnet Outdoor's quality and attention to
details and materials. Hope they NEVER send manuf overseas to save a buck!!!

Think I will just go with a SL and get a UQ in the future. I will use a cheap walmart pad to get me by until I get the UQ!

First time I set up WBBB XLC DL in Texas bush behind my Mother's home. Blends in a bit, tree on up hill side is about 3 ft higher than other tree, tied side guylines to shrubs, no ground pegs needed. Best of all no need to clear ground or cut back shrubs, pick up rocks, sticks, etc. A more low impact and Eco-friendly way to camp.

I've laid in both, prefer the single, what I like that it is more stretchy.

You kinda gotta figure if you're investing in a top line hammock like an XLC you're probably not that far from an under quilt purchase.
