UQ suspension question

I'm making a winter down uq and I've decided on shockcord running along the length of it. I've put cordlocks at the middle points so I can adjust it after I get into the hammock.

Wow! That sounds like the plan! It's like being able to reach your thermostat from your bed at home!

What strength of shockcord are you using with your UQs ?
I'm finishing mine and i think my shockcord is not strong enough, it is 3mm cord rated at 35daN.

Cord runs through channels on the side with a cordlock at the head end up to the suspension.
It stretches quite a bit just from the weight of the UQ and does not do much in terms of holding it up against the hammock. Quilt weights 670g(23,6oz) with the cord
Might a loop of shockcord at end of the suspension with cord running to the quilt and through the channels be enough/better?

try making the shock cord shorter, or push it further out along the suspension straps if you can.

I tried that yesterday but i ended up with the shockcord close to completely stretched and the UQ still sagging.
I'll just give it another go and try it with nonelastic guyline if it does not work out

my guess is that with the shockcord stretching so much, that you will need to find another, probably larger diameter, shockcord to use. I would not continue to use any shockcord that is already over stretched, that's just like asking for trouble down the road. You don't have to use shockcord, some of my under-quilts are just small dia rope. But on those I do add a little bit of shockcord as tensioners to the rope. There's directions on this site about doing that although the directions were more aimed toward tarp guylines. The idea is sound and it allows your under-quilt to give a little and still be fitted to your hammock when you move around in it.

Complete under quilt suspension system....shock cord and micro biners are readily available commercially at near DIY retail costs.... Easily suspend any UQ with corner tabs on any hgammock....

what size is the shockcord?

you don't have to try non-elastic, if you stretch the shockcord all the way out it becomes non elastic, it can only stretch so far before the cover won't let it stretch anymore.

1/8" shockcord should be good. anything less than that and i could see there being problems not having enough resistence

that seems to be my experience as well. using 3/16 shock cord would barely hold up a 13oz UQ without maxing out. I second Pan's recommendation. JrB cords are easy if you plan to attach 4 corners to the hammock body proper. Good price, too.
