    reflectix and condensation?

I have read that you get condensation sleeping on reflectix. Some say yes, and some say no. What is it? I use an UQ and I plan to have the reflectix on top of the hammock and I will sleep on top of the reflectix. The temps will be in the 20s. What can I expect? I will also use a hammock sock out of 1.1, if that makes any difference. Another question, if the reflectix reflects body heat back, will the warmth of the UQ be blocked by the reflectix. Thanks.

all pads are vapor barriers, therefore depending on the conditions condensation is possible.

For me, condensation is guaranteed using a pad or reflectix or any vapor barrier - it doesn't matter what the temperature is.

Considering that we pot cozies out of reflectix to hold pots of boiling water, I think the reflectix would negate the UQ as there would be no warm air for the UQ to trap. The hammock sock will definitely help with warmth protecting your insulation from heat robbing breezes/winds.

That's not how insulation works. The UQ will not be "negated". It will still insulate the space you are occupying from the outside air.

I'd expect condensation. If it's cold either have a change of clothes ready, or sleep in your wools.

I slept outside in mid thirties and rain the other day with a ccf pad and a pluq. Woke up with my backside pretty damp.

Last time I used my reflectix pad for my feet, I placed it outside of my TQ, between the hammock and TQ. There was an actual puddle there by morning. I think the extreme temperature difference makes the condensation worse. Next time, it goes in the TQ.

Totally disagree with this. Warm air filled down will keep you warmer than cold air filled down.

Don't insulate yourself from your insulation. That includes sleeping in heavy clothes.

You can do two things with your body heat. reflect it back to yourself, or let it radiate into the UQ insulation. If your insulation is sufficient to hold that warm air, your body will produce plenty of heat to warm it
