Is spinn gone? Can you still get gear made from it or is it no good? I'm considering maybe a cheeper alternative to cuben.

There are a few used tarps floating around out there, but its not manufactured anymore due to waterproofing issues...unless I have a misunderstanding. I'd love to have one, but they're rare.

Spinnaker fabric wasn't made to be warerproof, but some of it just happened to be that. So of course, hikers looking to reduce weight, went to these tarps made from Spinnaker. I have an excellent one from OES. But, for several years it's been nearly impossible to find waterproof Spinnaker fabric. The last production of Spinn tarps that I saw was Jacks R Better; give them a try.
