Great job with the wheels. I stated earlier that wheels were my next intent for the project, but never got around to it.

They say necessity is the mother of invention. If so, then scouting trips would be our grounding rod to reality. A quick trip to the site we were planning to camp (and which was originally reported to have 'no place to hang a hammock') revealed the truth: tent campers are indeed an unobserving species.

Thanks for continuing the concept guys. You've validated my claim to sanity, though my wife still occasionally feels differently.

Thanks for the directions. I have one of these now; my first DIY hammock project. It's setup in the basement for now but looks to be very functional, if heavy, since I used treated lumber. Cost around $40.

It's a good thing it doesn't take up too much space, otherwise you might have to fight for it.

HAHA!! The kids were all over it this AM. It was like Christmas all over again!!

I know its big, but I wanted to be able to string up my tarp, and that has a 12' ridgeline.... Although now that I think about it... my outside poles are far enough apart to do that, So I may downsize the stand a little.

Slept in it last nite with just a fleece blanket. We keep it cool (61) in the house to appease Gore, so I headed up to the bed at around 5, cause I got cold.

Nice! Are you mounting wheels on one end, or will she be carrying both of them to the site? JK'ing.

I wish someone would nail down a quick release technique that would still hold the bottom trusses to the outriggers. This would allow quick and easy setup of one stand in the center of the outriggers, or two stands parrallelling each other at the outer ends of the outriggers.

Anyone know of a quick release or ratcheting bolt system that could handle the task?

Did you use pressure treated lumber?

BRR, nice looking stand(s). You have a toy filled room there, guitars?

TH4x, you can parallel two hammocks with a simple bolt up connection, or use a hinge and remove the pin. Not sure why you would need to join the two stands? Couldn't you just place them freestanding next to each other? Seems like variables in ground conditions would make paralleling a difficult task? hyoh.
