    Chingyul,
A much smaller fastener will be adequate for hanging a tarp. How small? I have no idea. Use "trail and error" as they spell it at HF.

Way to go you all way to put your heads together and build on a real good idea. I too have been looking for a good sturdy hammock stand and and I think this is the perfect one for my Bedroom. I want to thank you all for your input and enjoyed reading everything on this thread. I also want to thank Sinister Minister for his contribution and putting things in a file so that we can print it out and take out and have while we are building these.

Again I want to thank you all for this. It has been a very long time since I spent this much time on hammock Forum reading. I spend allot of time lurking anymore but this one brought me out to post something.

    thanks

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I've been lurking for months now and have been blown away by the support within this community. Each idea seems to feed the next.

My limited amount of work in putting these instructions into form is just a small way to show my appreciation for all the work others have provided before me.

Now...if I can only learn how to sew.

Thanks so much for the info.
My son and I made a stand for me, but he has commandeered it.
    Here are the pics.

    Sinister Minister,
I am having a difficult time printing out your pages to do this project. I have a friend to help me this weekend.
I am using MS Outlook, but it keeps cutting off parts even though I use the "printable method" and have tried both portrait and landscape.
    Any ideas, anyone?
I need to figure out how to copy each sheet correctly?

I apologize for the image sizes...I accidentally built them using Ledger sized pages and didn't realize it until I was finished.

Instead of using Outlook, try copying the image and pasting it into MS Word or MS Publisher, even WordPad.

You could also right click on the image and select "Save As" then save it to your PC and open it with what ever default image viewer you have installed...the Windows default should allow you to adjust the print size.

I'll try that, but all my tricks are not getting it done.

You could also try to print it out of Internet Explorer (IE).

    - Click on one of the images, which should open the HF Gallery view.
    - Click on the image again so that it's the only thing in IE.
    - If you have the latest version of IE, in the upper right hand corner is a printer icon and a drop down arrow. Click on the drop down arrow and select "Print Preview".
    - This should open a preview window. In the upper left corner, change the orientation to landscape.
    - To the right of that there should be an aspect ratio selection..."Shrink To Fit" is default. Change it to "Custom" and set the ratio to 40%.
    - You may need to tweak the ratio a little, but when you're down, click the printer button.

Lots of steps, but that's one way to do it if you can't get the others to work.
