looking for some hangs near St.Pete 1st week of may

Hello fellow hangers,heading south for a week or so arriving may 2nd leaving the 9th.

Staying at fort desoto for 2 days 5/2-5/4

Looking for backpacking spots out of the busy RV parks.

Here in IN. We have a national forest that you can put down anywhere free and without reservations.Looking for something like that.

Myakka River State Park may be your best option. Also, the Florida Trail is about 1 1/2 hours. Ocala (about 2 1/2 hrs north) is an even better spot. One thing is that water usually isn't available on the trails in Florida.
