Pack load for my first winter hang. Am I missing anything?

The temps will be a low of 22 degrees. I plan on doing a 3 day 2 night backpacking trip with 2 other friends who are going in tents. Here is my pack load minus food and first aid. Am I missing anything important? Or is there anything you would suggest I include/modify.

    1) Underwear?
    2) A hat
    3) Do you have snow on the ground? Are those shoes sufficient?
    4) I don't see any means of starting a fire on here. The piezo ignition on the stove alone isn't sufficient.
    5) Likewise, I'd like to see a compass, not just a GPS.
    6) I'm feeling skeptical of whether your DIY underquilt is warm enough, but since you're bringing a pad anyway that you could use to supplement it I think you'll be okay.
    7) Toilet paper
    8) Any medications if applicable

Long underwear, warm sleeping clothes, toothbrush and paste. Bear spray in the winter?? Food up a tree gear if needed. Did you plan to hunt food? A seat? You may want to watch some Shug vids and take everything you see while he is out on the trail.

I would not try the set up for the first time on a trip, Just my opinion. Besides the other issues mostly addressed in first two replies.

Not a bad gear list, if pretty heavy. Seems to me that the weight listed for your shoes is only for one, not the pair. I could be mistaken as I don't know these shoes but my trail runners weigh 12oz EACH.So you might want to check that and double up the weight.

Good replies so far. I don't know what the winters are like where you are. Maybe you should tell us the kind of conditions you are expecting.

Just off the top of my head:
Is there the possible need for snow shoes?
I'd also bring and axe and a small shovel or at least make sure the group has these items.
Are the shoes what you use in the summer? I'm not sure they are enough for winter. They may be too small to be worn with multiple socks which would lead to cold feet due to deceased circulation.

coordinate with your buddies... odds are that you don't need 3 stoves, 3 water filters, etc. Each of you may be able to save some weight by coordinating your gear lists.

Climbing.Kevin is from Maryland and it was 68 degrees here on Sunday, so I'm going to guess that snowshoes are not necessary unless he goes west or north a considerable amount.

Those 5.10's are actually a pretty rugged shoe, even if they're a low top. So long as there is space for bulky socks, or he's really good about changing between multiple pairs of warm but thinner socks, those should be fine. Maybe add some gaiters in case you do find some snow?

    My concerns would be:

    - The Sawyer filter: do you have a way to attach this to your water containers? I'm guessing it works inline with the hydration bladder, but that would be a bad detail to overlook.

    - Food: Seems a bit on the slack side, but maybe you just didn't list everything. Obviously, it's only a couple of days and you could go with being a little hungry for this amount of time. But this is winter, it'll be cold and you will need more food than in the summer. Either you're going to be eating a lot of Cheetos and trail mix, or you're going to be hungry and cold. I'd mix up some super spackle, pack some tortillas, maybe throw in a pack of ramen for a hot snack or some Tang for a cuppa warm juice (sounds weird, but it's actually pretty tasty).

    - Navigation: If it's in the Mid Atlantic, chances are you won't get lost. And if you do, you won't be lost for long. However, are you taking maps? Also, bring a compass and watch a couple of youtube videos on how to use one. Pretty simple and could be a real life saver.

    - Shovel: Gotta poop in a hole, need something to dig a hole with. I guess you could use that Buck sword you're taking, but when nature calls it doesn't like to wait!

A generator and electric heater. Your buddies will be jealous.

If temperatures will be below freezing you should not bring a water filter. If the filter freezes it will expand the pores and ruin its ability to filter out the bad stuff.
