I wear down pants and a down jacket to bump up the rating of my top quilt. I'm also hoping that it helps smooth out cold spots while I sleep.
One problem is my underquilt. I'm considering buying a 20F full-length quilt but I'd like to test it in the dead of winter in yosemite (not just fall).
Are there any tricks to bumping up the underquilt rating? I can't use down pants as the down under me compresses.
I could pack in a blue foam padding.
Or maybe there are some companies that have one off quilts that can just add 10F to my existing quilt..?
