Best way to manage excess whoopie sling?

Since i got long tree straps (i want the option to hang from thick and large trees),i have a lot of excess whoopie sling hanging down ,especially when i hang to thin trees that are near each other. It is touching the ground.

What is the best way to store the sling on itself without using knots that will slow down the take down process? Also without water running through all of it,leaving dirt.

If I understand you correctly, I take the tail end of he whoopie and roll it up and put it in a loose over hand knot that is easily undone. Hope that helps

I do the same with my tree straps, I do not like anything dangling around

If that long, I'd Figure-8 around my index and pinky, then a loop or two, tuck the tail. Done. I do that with anything much hanging long....if I want to mess with it at all. Woopies/UCR, I think it is a good idea from a safety point of view. Not a dangling line at your shoulder/neck.

I figure 8 hank the excess whoopie sling tail using my thumb and pinky and then leave about eight inches to wrap around the bundle.

As the others advised, just gather it into a hank...you don't even have to undo it to take it down....

...or just place the end through the adjustable loop. It will be clamped in place when the hammock is weighted...

+1... I spent too much time on sailboats to leave loose, unattended ropes on the deck. I always like to coil surplus line and cords into neat figure-8s and tie them up out of the way. Good line management makes tear down easier and is always safer.

As an ex sailboat racer, I am also obsessed with neatly bundling all lines.

I wad up the excess loosely and then tuck it in the adjustable loop just like gmcttr showed in his second picture. It holds the line up off the ground but is still easy to undo and make an adjustment if I should need to.

I tie slippery half-hitches with the remaining whoopie line. Easy to make and undo, and also serve as dripstop when it's rainy outside.
