What I have learned on HF.......

What I have learned on HF.......

There is no one perfect hammock

There is no one perfect tarp, TQ, UQ ect

There are many different types of suspension systems and like hammocks, there is no one perfect system

    Dutch makes Hammock Crack

Group Hammock Hangs are fun to attend

Hammocks (and related gear) are addicting, but whose trying to quit.

North Carolina has the most hammock hangers

There are two type of hangers, those who have fallen while hanging and those that will

Most of the Cottage Vendors are a business consisting of just one or two people ( maybe a few more ) who do everything from take the orders, answer the phones/email, make the stuff and ship it out and as a result most of the stuff is made to order which can take several weeks ( I has to wait 3 months one time to get an order due to the vendors backlog but I did not mind waiting as I knew I was getting a custom made piece of gear I wanted )

Shug makes some very funny videos

We have a bunch of talented folks on the forum

Whoopie Slings is fun to say

Cannibal has the largest collection hammocks

Hammock hanging made me learn how to use a thread injector ( I was the only male at the class, the instructor said she did not have any manly fabrics and I told her no problem and pulled out my camo ripstop )
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

Cool summary. Dutch making hammock crack, and based on that ultralight suspension only "hammock" that he made the recent video of lends a new meaning to Hammock Crack in the Crack!

Actually this place has taught me more about respect than any other place. I really hope we can keep it going. I have seen great generosity, compassion, and empathy come from here. The internet is a place where people can anonymously be jerks and not fear an recourse. Many people feed off of spreading negativity. Yet here, with the help of great moderators, we seem to have hardly any of it. That has lead to the many great friends I have made here. The hangs are something I cherish and glad to be part of. I have had great hiking trips and even a 4 day canoeing trip in Sweden because of friends I met here. All this has fostered a great place to make this hobby even better. Speaking as a vender the civility of HF has made it easy to develop products and that has been beneficial to everyone. If there was no HF, I am sure there wouldn't be the wide variety of vender or products. It also has been a great place to develop DIY products. People help you here, it is a great resource and I haven't seen any other place like it.
I've been here a while and watched it grow while it has changed, it still feels like home to me.
    Peace Dutch

Wow gunner, you really summed it up nicely. Maybe that should be a sticky! Lol
And Dutch, my sentiments exactly. My wife said it best when she attended her first hang, "Oh, I get it. It's not about the hammocks, it's about the people."
