I hiked from Hwy 27 trailhead to a quarter mile past Story Creek over December 9th and 10th. Originally I was going to go further but the ice made it very tough going so I cut the trip short. Lots of trees and branches down due to the freezing rain. More branches in the trail with most of the fallen trees being outside of it. Pines were taking the heaviest hit and saw several snapped in half. I tested out the BIAS hiker lite I got as a door prize at the gathering this year along with a JacksRBetter Greylock 3 underquilt I got with a giftcard I also won at the Backpacking Arkansas gathering. I didn't really like the BIAS. For whatever reason I could never get a good lay in it(I will have to try again). The underquilt was pretty warm and I'm happy with it though anytime it gets below freezing like that I'm about ready to go tent.
