    DIY Insulated hammock

After looking seeing a fleece sleeping bag/bag liner at walmart for $15 I first thought it might make a good summer underquilt. But then I began to think that it could be sewn underneath permanently to make a good summer weight hammock and could even have a foam pad inserted into it to make it warmer if the sewing was only on one side and the top left open. Having no DIY experience myself does anyone have any input? I think my moms old Singer is hanging around somewhere.

You'll want the fleece bigger than the hammock to allow for stretch when weighted.

I recommend having someone lie in the hammock and then you pin the fleece to it, to get a decent measurement. Too loose = cold butt. Too tight = cold butt.

Let us know how it works out!

if its one of those Coleman zip up sleeping bag liners.... it may not be long enough for you...wide enough, certainly. since it already has a zipper; you could in theory get another one, and cut the zipper off one, and sew the zipper from the stripped one to the hammock body, OR to a bugnet, and you could in theory have a combo summer weight insulated hammock and bugnet...?

with two of them, you would be able to make a single long long underquilt thats attached to the hammock, if its a gathered end, you could simply take it apart and sew the fleece to the body, but have it longer than the flattened hammock to allow the fleece to follow the weighted hammock size. If you want to make it entirely insulated from suspension channel to suspension channel, this would be one way to do it. if you simply want a torso length or standard length UQ (same length as standard sleeping bag), you would need to have someone in it of similar weight to you and pin the fleece to where you want it sewn.
