Yeti question

Wonderful piece of gear IMO! At this point, I'm not sure what it would take to get me to go to a full length underquilt; the Yeti works too well. I've had the current 3-season down to 24F (maybe 25F, can't remember?) without any additional insulation below me. The kicker to that is that I wasn't even under a winter tarp at the time, so I had no real protection from the elements. I'm a little weird about cold admittadly, but the Yeti kicks!

The only thing I'm mad about is that Brandon waited till summer to debut the snap-in reflective liner. Now I gotta wait 2 whole seasons before I try that out. Yes, I'm pouting. What's your point?

I'll paraphase his response because I can't find the e-mail and wouldn't want to quote him directly without his permision---bottom line from Warbonnet is that the Yeti is:
smaller
lighter
plenty warm

It does make you rethink the need for a complete UQ doesn't it, it's like the lowly ground dweller who carries a torso length pad and places a backpack or whatever under his legs.

So do you still need something under your legs (since the Yeti isnt full coverage?)

Also does anyone have pictures of the snap-in reflective liner?

Anymore, I usually just use my pack under my feet and legs. My pack is actually multi-use gear now. Gotta love that!

Can't help you with the snap-in reflector; mine is old-school.

Don't have a Yeti (yet?), but I normally have a torso-length pad under my legs when I use half-underquilts. You may be able to get by with nothing under your legs in warmer weather, or some folks can probably do that in colder weather but not me. I'm a cold weather wussy.

I use the torso pad as a sit pad during the day. It's also nice knowing I have backup in case space aliens steal my hammock during the day, or if I can't hang my hammock b/c I broke an arm and need to camp before I can hike out.

Yes, if you have a Mt Washington pad or a short ridgerest and a ULA pack, you basically have a full length pad to sleep on in the regretable condition you can't hang.

I just got two Gossamer Gear Nitelight torso pads to go with the new packs (Murmur and Miniposa)...we'll see how they work out b/c they're pretty small. Probably just the ticket for a 2/3-length underquilt, but might be a bit short for an underquilt less than 40" long or so.

I'm going to guess the liner is sandwiched in between the hammock and the UQ? If it's on the outside will condensation occur?

that's where the snaps are.....my guess is a layer of reflectex or something very similar-metal particles to reflect heat/a wee bit of added insulation/ but still able to breath
