The Pack Hook Tie-out system is used to:
- help spread the hammock out and make it feel more roomy.
- tension the netting and keep it from sagging against you.
- help anchor and position your UGQ underquilt against the bottom of the ThunderBird.
- help anchor and lift your underquilt suspension to maintain good contact with the hammock.
Here's a photo that may help explain.

Just what i was hoping for . Thanks randy . Question . Will they get in your way getting in and out of your hammock ? or do you just secure the ones that won't get your way . What about the rope ? any thing special as far as type or knots ? Secure the rope to tent stakes ?
I believe it comes with small diameter shock cord. If it doesnt come with it, it is the thing to use. tie a shorter piece between the two tie outs and then one longer piece to the middle of that to go to the stake. You just stake it down. The shock cord stretches enough to be able to throw your legs right over it. It can be a challenge at night though. Nothing says you have to use them, nice to have for certain occasions.
Just for the record I Love my Thunderbird, I sleep in it every night and on the trail. I'm in it right now.........Thanks Randy!!!
Any pic or youtube showing the use of guide lines ?
I have a roaming gnome 11" and i wonder if the grosgrain loops on my hammock is positioned at the same place as the pac hook mod is?
Want to add pac hooks on mine too.
I believe DH introduced the hooks on the ThunderBird and are a standard feature for it. My DangerBird has the grosgrain loops as well.
