Two Yeti's

just a thought anyone try using 2 yeti's one for the shoulder to torso area the other for the feet to torso area kinda like" meeting in the middle" what the perfomance comfort level would or may be like. As i said just a thought

That would give you some flexibility in your setup, but I think I would just opt for a full size under quilt. I could see where you might have cold spots and gaps in the area where the quilts meet.

Or, if you already have one torso length UQ, why not just use the leg pad as designed? It doesn't seem there would be enough of a comfort boost going from leg pad to full length UQ to be worth trying to get two torso length quilts to work together, and working with two dif suspensions, etc.. Plus, I suspect two torso length ( 3/4 length? ) UQs would be longer ( heavier ) than one full length UQ.

But, I suppose if you have two Yeti's and really didn't want to use or carry a leg pad, it might be worth experimenting with. If you don't have two( or even one Yeti), but absolutely do no want to carry or use a leg pad, like HC4U said, better just get a UQ designed for full length use from the get go.

Shug used a Yeti and a DIY torso quilt in tandem. If I remember correctly, he had positive results. Thar be a thread somewheres! (Sorry, Pirate Talk day at work. )

It would be interesting to see how two Yeti's work out. I'm guessing it would work fine. I'd prefer it over a pad. I hate pads because of the awful condensation. Maybe for colder temps a winter Yeti at the head end and the three season at the foot end.

for all you pad-haters, have you tried one only under the legs? it's not the same at all. you hear about back sweating, not leg sweating.

i have wondered about shug's 2-uq idea too but i haven't tried it yet either.

Brandon, actually I used a pad just from the end of the Yeti to the feet and my sleeping bag was soaked at the foot end. The Blackbird was soaked all the way through and there was standing water droplets in the hammock. All of this though only at the foot end. Under the Yeti was bone dry. This happened about three times. After that I decided enough of pads. Last few times out I just put my pack in the hammock for the foot end and have had no condensation issues.
