I am awaiting the arrival of tadpole with pole mod and door kit. To begin with I will probably only use knots for my Ridgeline simply because of cost weight and I like to tie knots. What kind of rope should I use for the Ridgeline? I am planning on getting some Mason line and shock cord to make self tensioning guy lines. Can I use the Mason line as my ridge line as well?
You could use mason line for a ridgeline, but it would be more decorative than functional. Most people are using minimum 1.75 mm Zing-It (480 lbs. breaking strength) whereas mason line might be 30 lbs. breaking strength. It's lifespan would be measured in seconds under load.
