My DIY version of bridge hardware

I've sewn several different bridge hammocks in several different ways. I've used 1/2" webbing, amsteel, and mule tape. I have decided I like using the mule tape, but couldn't figure out a good way to get the spreader bars worked in. Then I had a brainstorm! Here is my idea for spreader bar hardware:

I did an Internet search for aluminum tubing, and found this. You can order a piece as short as 12". (I called and asked them to cut it in half, to save on shipping.)

I gave the tubing to my bro-in-law and had him cut it into 1/4" slices with his band saw. After many hours in a tumbler, this is what I ended up with.

A set of 4 weighs just under an ounce.

I ran the mule cord through each ring and sewed it to the body of the hammock, then larksheaded the suspension on. This is what it looks like with the spreader bar inserted.

I've spent many nights using this system, and I really feel confident about the integrity of the rings!

Very nice. Simple and could be made with a hacksaw and some sandpaper.

I wondered why you didn't just let the suspension triangle larks head to the webbing, hold the spreader bars until I saw you used mule tape for the triangles as well.

They also work well for when the spreader bars are inset.
