Does doing it this way make it so you cannot sleep corner to corner for that nice, flat, a-sym lay (I'm not talking a HH with tie outs, just a reg. gathered end hammock)? I've not tried it, so maybe the sleeping bag just scrunches up the unused portion of the hammock and still lets you lay corner to corner. ???

I just picture myself having to sleep on my back in a banana shape... not at all comfortable for me.

If it has a full length double slide zipper, all you have to do is to open the zipper just a tad at the bottom (where the two sliders and the zipper mate together) and pull the foot end suspension line through. That's it, your done. Bunch the bag at the foot, enter the hammock, pull the bag up around you, cinch the neck drawstring a bit to prevent the bag from sliding down, put something fluffy around around your neck and shoulder area to seal out drafts, and finally, drift off to sleep. No muss, no fuss, and nothing modified just in case the party in question doesn't take to hammocking. There is no way to attach a net, but, I'm assuming that it's too cold for the bugs to be that big of a deal yet up in B.C.!

Good call. This sounds easy and takes out the "what if they hate it?" factor. We don't need to worry about bug nets because I've made the hammocks myself and they have a bug net built into them(Kinda like a HH, but with a zipper on the side instead of a opening flap at the bottom) cause even though it's cold there are still bugs up here.

This is great now they have 2 options to keep warm so if one doesn't work they other will have to do and they can stop their wining and enjoy hammocking. Haha.

It is not a problem for me. The rectangular bags usually have enough extra room in them to allow you to sleep off-center.

If that's the case, I think I'll give it a whirl. I bought a really really crappy rectangle bag from Walmart ($9.00) that I was going to turn into an underquilt (will make a lightweight and better one later, just wanted something cheap to try out first before spending the money to do it right). I"ll try it like you're talking about first to see how it works for me.

    Thanks.
