    Down Hood for Mouth Breathers

A great guy over on BPL is making some custom down hoods. Since this is part of my hammock sleep system, I wanted to post about it here. I put in my order for a full ounce of water resistant 850 down with Impetus 1.0 fabric. Total finished weight is 60 grams or 2.1 ounces.

"And E" made a drawing for my approval, after we had talked about the design for my "mouth breather down hood". I wish I could always breathe through my nose, but I get stuffy. Maybe some of you are in the same boat.

I have never seen a down hood that incorporates a fleece breathing panel, and I think And E did a great job of it. He finished it in just a few days, shipped it out quickly, and the price was SUPER REASONABLE.

Here is the hood with the open faced configuration.

And here it is cinched down with the breathing panel over the mouth.

Here is a link to his article with better photos of other hoods.

That's a great idea. The last time I used my down hood, it got really wet from my breath.

Exactly. It happened to me too. That is what sent me down this route.

2ply, dragon360, and bodhran4me, thanks for seeing the potential here.

Here is a link where he is selling a similar one for $45 Within the post , he mentions to contact him through PM on BPL. My hood had more down and was a custom order. Yet it was still a good deal less in price than say...the down hoods on ZPacks. I don't want to quote the exact price, as it may be that And E undercharged me a bit, or forgot to pay himself.

I don't know if you saw the link to the better photos of his work in my original post, as it was hidden under a photo. The photos in the link have about 2/3 the down that was put in to mine. But here it is again. Let me know if you still have trouble contacting him, if you are for instance a nonmember of BPL. Cheers,
