I did a reconn trip in case anybody can make my Frozen Yooper Hang, Western Upper Michigan: https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ad.php?t=85754
I snowshoed about 300 yards off trail and set up camp in a nice area a deer had been in. Turns out camp was between 2 deer highways.

This was the maiden voyage of my new OHM 2.0 in multicam! Man, that is one sweet ride. I went from a 5lb 5oz pack to a 29oz pack.

After I set up camp, I snowshoed maybe 500 yards to Lake Superior. My only mistake this trip was not putting on my snowpants. I had gaiters on, but a few times on my way to the lake, I sunk up to my crotch. I had to build an unexpected fire to dry my pants and socks. The huge hemlock forest had deer tracks all over, but closer to the lake the woods get thick with deciduous trees, and that's where the coyote tracks ran all over the place. I came across someone's breakfast. We had a dusting of snow overnight, and there was almost no snow on this patch of fur and deer hide.

Overnight low of 9*, daytime high of 20*. When I got up at 9am, it was windy with snow showers. We had an inch already. Had a cup of joe ( I can't get over how much heet it takes to heat 2 cups of cold water, in the cold!), packed up camp, and snowshoed out in a blizzard.
I saw a total of 3 deer, and heard another snort when I was in the hammock. This was the first time I thought 30' of ridge line might not be enough. Really glad I recently got 15' straps. The LED's were great, they take 3 AA's, I used lithiums because they are lighter, last a lot longer, and work better in the cold.
I learned a few more things and had a good trip, glad I went!
